 For most JMAers, MarkIt is a very special part of the org’s app process. Since it is usually the first Academic Event of the sem, it is oftentimes the first event wherein apps get a feel of what marketing is about. This sem’s MarkIt, entitled “APPerture: Opening Eyes to Marketing” happened last January 7, from 8AM to 5PM at BA 302.

The apps started coming in at around 7:30AM, welcomed by the warm smiles of the TRec and TMS directors. Dressed in their best corporate outfits, the ASG apps looked ready for any task that would be thrown their way.

Hosted by Winchell Wong and Anj Sebastian, the apps were treated to witty remarks and “benta” jokes. They were also given a taste of JMA tradition: Goks.

To kick off the event, Memo’s Marz Punzalan gave a very informative talk on Power Dressing. Complete with a corporate attire fashion show, it was fun and interactive for apps and mems alike.

JMA’s very own alumni, Andro Roño and Brian Catbagan, gave engaging talks on Events Management and Marketing, respectively. For the apps, it served a dual purpose of getting to know JMA veterans and at the same time being imparted with knowledge.

After a hearty lunch, the afternoon session started with a talk by Judy and Raf Jamolague about Advertising, followed by Esel de Sagun’s talk on Personal Branding.

Then came the time that the apps had been waiting for: case study session. The mentors were assigned to each app committee, to guide the apps in answering the challenging cases that Team Embassy had prepared for them. After one hour of planning and preparation, the apps were finally ready to present their answers before the ExeComm.

One by one, the app committees relayed their plans in the form of powerpoint presentations. Once the judging was over, TMS tallied the scores and declared a winner. However, no one left the place empty-handed. Each app was given a commemorative bookmark as a reminder of the day’s events.

The KIDS Christmas Party (more known as the KIDSmas Party) starts off the Christmas season in JMA by providing an avenue for the kids and members to celebrate Christmas as one community. True to the spirit of Christmas, the simple get-together will be packed with bonding games and activities followed by a delectable lunch prepared by the JMA Ate’s and Kuya’s. Afterwards, a showcase of talents will take place through singing and dancing performances by both the JMA kids and members. To cap it all of, each KID shall receive gifts and goodie bags from the JMA members as symbol of their love and care for them. It’ll take place in the New Intramuros Village Clubhouse from 9 am – 3 pm on December 3, 2011. See you there!

To kickstart the semester long journey a JMA applicant undertakes, he/she must first attend OrSem. Serving as the launching pad into the application process, “BLAST OFF: App, App, and Away!” will be the applicants’ first look into what JMA and being a JMA-er is all about. With committee presentations and hilarious ice breakers, the applicants are given a taste of what to expect for the semester to come!

Catching up with an old friend. Letting loose on a Friday night. Dressing down, drinking up, pulling pranks and fooling around. Waking up in the late afternoon, remembering the night before and thinking – damn. Those were some GOOD TIMES.

That’s what this group of crazy kids plan to bring to the table on October 21, 2011 at Venice Piazza, McKinley Hill. Good vibes, good friends, good times. No frills, no pretentions, and definitely no typical party. With kaleidoscopic attractions, drinking games, free-flowing booze and indie/alternative music from DJ Toby and DJ Gogo, expect it to be a little wacky, a little wild, and a whole lot of fun.

So watch out for us everywhere – online, around the metro and most especially on Octber 21. Save the date! And get ready as UP JMA and R18 Vodka Knockers bring on the Good Times.
